West Fascade


Some say that Monet painted from a place on the plaza itself. Others say he painted from a second floor window above a store across the way. The latter is supported clearly in this painting as the perspective looks 'down' on the plaza.

If you visit Rouen, you can actually visit the window Monet supposedly painted from...for a price. And expect disappointment because there is a bank of trees blocking the view of the cathedral!
